Designing A Site To Get Noticed

There are numerous benefits that webmasters can enjoy if they take the time to learn all about search engine optimization (SEO) and then carefully and consistently apply the principles to a website, its contents and the website design.

While it's true that there are many website designers who are able to create stunning page layouts for their sites and impressive graphics, too few of them put enough thought or even effort into what will draw the attention of the search engines.

You Need Fast Loading And Good Coding

In this day and age when there are billions upon billions of pages of web content spread across the vast internet, it's more important than ever to make sure that webmasters and website designers take special pains to build their sites and code them in such a way that the site is fully search engine optimized.

There are a number of good SEO practices that every webmaster who cares about gaining a good search engine ranking for a website should be sure to implement consistently. A website that has been built with the clear understanding of solid navigation and high quality content will enjoy better listings in the search engine results, commonly called the SERPs.

It's Always An Ongoing Process

Even established websites that already have a steady flow of web traffic could still improve the organic search engine traffic they receive if they make an all-out effort to maximize their SEO efforts.

Designing a site to make the most of what the search engines are looking for is a fairly simple process, although it does require a good bit of attention to detail.

Primarily, the task boils down to properly coding the various elements of the web page with current coding protocol in specific HTML tags, while at the same time making the most of the semantic value of the web content of the site.

Use The Many Available Resources

There are many other elements of search engine optimization that come to bear on a website and much more can be learned by seeking out the vast number of SEO and webmaster resources that are available online.

The foundation of all good optimization starts with good keyword research and a clear understanding of the type of visitors the webmaster is trying to attract and what keyword phrases they search for.

Questions That Need To Be Asked

If you are using any company or individual as your web developer you need to ask them so questions first. These questions are designed to give you a better understanding of what abilities the web designer has and will identify if you need to spend additional money on the website.

What you can do right away is this, ask the web designer for a link to any site he has created and see how well that site ranks with a mixture of keywords. Don't get fooled by a designer telling you they rank for the domain name as a keyword, it's not hard to do that and is only natural a site would be ranked high for their domain or business name.

However if they are not ranked anywhere for the business name then it is advisable not to use that designer and politely decline there services.

Always avoid businesses that make big outlandish promises, as with all things in life if it sounds to good to be true it usually is, that is unless you are prepared to pay for it.

If you are interested in knowing what questions you should ask then please add your comments below and if I see enough interest I will write a post for all to use as a reference.
